done, so done

This is how I felt pretty much all day.
Because of this darling little morning scenario:
Step One: Cook the kid two eggs.
Step Two: He wants more.
Step Three: Start to make him more.
Step Four: He decides you're not a fast enough short order cook and proceeds to open the fridge and drop the last half dozen eggs on the floor.
Step Five: Breathe, send him to time out, clean up the mess, and FB about it.
In that order.

Tame really but kind of annoying, you know?
Godzilla baby!!!
Good thing he's so cute.

All I can say is: Terrible Two's MY HINEY.
18 months has proven to be  "a harder act of defiance than I had anticipated."
Anyone?

you can count on me

Whoever said the only thing you can be certain of in life is death and taxes, was never a mom.
I'm pretty certain that there will always be more laundry to do, more oatmeal to wipe up, more floors to sweep, more dirty dishes to wash, and more dinners to cook in my future.
Not to get all mushy and saptastic, but I'm kinda glad about it too.
It just means I have clothes to wear, somewhere to live, a healthy/crazy kid to clean up after, and food to eat.
And that I get to be home to do it all.
I could live without all the oatmeal though.
So woo hoo for the alternative dry cereals!
They're way easier to sweep/vacuum up after inevitably being ground into the floor or carpet.
Science is good for something after all.

Family Outing and then Inning

Happy new year!!! We went to the snow with everybody to celebrate the fresh year.
Doesn't B look excited?
Swept up in the winter wonderland that IS the snow?
He's so gushing on the inside.
How could he not have the time of his life when his mama dressed him like this for the great fam outing:
Borrowed Powerpuff Girl boots, freepiled duck suit, freepiled and oh-so 80's puffy jacket.
Check.

And here are the mandatory Carlos/Me shots:
And more of the fam:

After all the fun we had out in the elements, we headed inside for cocoa and fries.
What a winning combination.
 B's fave part for sure.

Making a liar out of me.

There comes a time in every mom's life when you get to send your kid to nursery and have grown up church again. For us, that time came today.  B is now officially 18 months old. I was POSITIVE he'd be fine in there. I've always been able to drop him off at babysitters/friends houses no problem. "Mama? Mama WHO? Give me those toys!!" Well, check out the liar I turned out to be. I, on the other hand, totes behaved myself at church. I even got released from my calling as a nursery leader.  Grown up church big time. That last pic is me telling B how wonderful  and fab nursery is. I'm pretty darn convincing. AND: I don't crouch that low for just anyone!

these boots were made for burgers

Law wives night out!!
Since the laws school boys get to bond over things like taxation finals and con law classes
all the time, we law school wives decided to get together and bond over burgers and NO babies.
(I told you guys I was gonna blog it!!)
We have some pretty awesome law school wives up in here, let me just tell you.
I had some serious fun chatting and letting Toph be Mister Mom for the night.
The next time the law widows get together, we want to do some P90X with a dessert pot luck chaser.

Sounds like my kind of party!

After getting home, B was pretty thrilled to see me.
I felt almost as cool as daddy for once!
